British Columbia Immigration Issued Largest Number of Invitations

British Columbia immigration has conducted its largest draw of 2018, inviting 472 candidates to apply through its skilled worker and international graduate streams.

The October 17 draw also saw minimum scores drop compared to the previous British Columbia immigration draw, with skilled workers minimum Express Entry dropped to 80 points while direct provincial stream skilled workers dropped to 81 points. International graduates through the Express Entry stream was dropped to 90 points and the direct provincial stream dropped to 91 points. Entry level and semi-skilled workers needed 80 points.

The previous largest BC immigration draw saw 409 candidates invited on September 19, 2018.

The B.C. draws target skilled and semi-skilled workers, plus international graduates, under the BC PNP Tech Pilot. The BC PNP Tech Pilot was launched in 2017 and currently targets 29 occupations. The Pilot has been extended to 2019.

BC PNP Tech Pilot Job Requirements

  • Job offer must be for one of the 29 targeted occupations (see below)
  • Job offer must be for at least one-year duration
  • Job offer must be valid for at least 120 days at time of application

The B.C. PNP publishes the scores immigrants need to guarantee an invitation for Canada immigration under its programs.

The score needed by an international graduate for guaranteed invitation is 30 points below a skilled worker under both the Canada Express Entry and provincial stream. The score is also lower for entry-level and semi-skilled workers.
